Because milk in a bag can be carried in the same hand as about six other


bags.

Milk carried by the handle can only be carried in the same hand with maybe two other bags.

I'm with Joester on this one. Groceries go in bags. With handles. So, yes, I want my potatoes in a bag too. I know they are already in a bag, but that bag doesn't have handles which makes it infinitely more likely that I can't unload all the groceries in one trip.

If you want to save the planet, then put more groceries in one bag. There is no reason why $40 of groceries needs to be in 12 bags. It will fit in three or four.
